I came to Black Bear Diner because I was craving a Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs. I knew Black Bear Diner was the place to go to for a good breakfast craving. When I walked in I was greeted and seated right away. My drink and food order was taken right away too. My server, Elysia, did a phenomenal job. She was the only server working that night. She made sure I had everything I needed and kept checking in on me, while managing multiple tables at the same time with the same quick customer service all on her own. I highly recommend Black Bear Diner as a food spot to go in Moreno Valley if you are craving a delicious breakfast meal along with quick customer service, while enjoying the relaxing tranquility ambiance this restaurant has to offer.

I had dinner with my girlfriend here after hours of deciding where to eat and many of our other favorite options closed and have to say that it was the best choice we have ever made! Our server Elysia was so kind and patient when we couldn't decide what to order. I went with the Tri-tip and chicken tenders combo with mashed potatoes and gravy and a side of onion rings ( which were all so delicious and amazing that I had to tip the chef personally) my girlfriend had the taco salad with veggie soup and she loved every part of it! Elysia was the last server for the night and she handled all the customers with such ease and care like it was second nature. Definitely would recommend this spot to anybody looking for a great meal.

We love the diversity of the menu and that we were all able to get filling meals with plenty to bring home for lunch tomorrow. The front of the house seemed a bit understaffed with Elysia greeting, seating, taking orders, taking payments, handling refills, serving food, etc. But she was so super friendly and efficient. It was clear that there were some regulars here who she has built relationships with, but she didn't let her interactions with them slow down service to anyone. She made sure our orders were right and checked on us a couple of times (just the right number) to make sure everything tasted good and we didn't need anything. She really made us feel welcome so we could enjoy a relaxing meal. The restaurant was not packed, but it stayed busy with at least 5 or 6 tables going the entire time we were there. Tables were bussed efficiently and the restaurant was clean. I like the volume level here, too. The music is loud enough that you can make out the songs without a lot of effort, but not so loud as to drown out conversation or make you have to shout. Overall, it was a great dinner (mine was actually breakfast--they have the best breakfast sausage links and my red potatoes were probably one of the best batches I've had here--kudos to the cook who seemed to be a one man show in the kitchen). Thanks Elysia for making us feel at home!

I have been curious about this chain and since we were in the area, I made my family stop by here for lunch after my son's baseball game. This place is cute, you walk in to see a bunch of black bear themed merchandise. We got seated right away and were served by Yesenia. She was really nice and provided us with excellent service! Menus are newspapers so that was unique. The menu is pretty big and this restaurants has a lot to choose from. We ordered the Chicken Fried Steak, BBQ Pork Ribs, Open Faced Turkey Sandwich, Blueberry Pancakes, and Huckleberry lemonade to drink. First off, the portions here are HUGE! Every time Yesenia came by with a plate, all I could say was "whoa!" You definitely get your money's worth here, and I appreciate that especially now when everyone seems to be charging more and scrimping on portions. The huckleberry lemonade was good, but didn't taste anything super special. You get one refill, and I asked if I could have my refill in a takeaway cup so I could bring it home for my other kids to try. It comes garnished with blackberries, which is weird since a huckleberry looks like a blueberry. Everything was tasty, nothing really stood out as being bad. My favorite was the pancakes, they were thick and fluffy and oh so good! Cornbread was delish also. I liked my open faced turkey sandwich - it was like Thanksgiving yumminess in June. My hubby and son said the CF Steak and ribs were good, no complaints which is good since hubby is picky. The chicken tortilla soup had one cube of chicken so I wished there was more in there. Also I wished they had was fresh blueberries for the pancakes. They use blueberries like the canned ones you get in the Betty Crocker blueberry muffin box mix. Overall a great place for huge portions of good eats!
